INGREDIENTS

 Imperial  METRIC

 
SERVINGS: 6 dozen
 
1 Cup Raisins
1 Cup Water
3/4 Cup Shortening
1 1/2 Cup Sugar
2 Eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 Cup Flour
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Salt
1 teaspoon Cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon cloves
2 Cups Oats
1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts
 
 
 
 
DIRECTIONS
 
Simmer raisins and water over a medium heat until raisins are plump; about 15 minutes and drain raisins - reserving the liquid.
Add a bit of water to the reserved liquid to measure up to 1/2 cup.
Pre-heat oven to 400 degree F.
Mix thoroughly:
Shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Stir in reserved liquid.
Blend in remaining ingredients.
Drop cookie dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2" apart onto ungreased baking sheet.
Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown.

Additional Notes

* If using self rising flour, omit soda, salt and baking powder.
